AKAS has planted 8,111 plants into the environment since 2014! Of this 8,111 is made up of:
405 Large Tree Species, 707 shrubs (below 2M), 6501 flowers, grasses, edibles, mid canopy and ground covers, 439 climbing plants and 57 aquatic Plants.
If we were to include our projects yet to be built this number would be 13,577!
At AKAS we love visualizing and creating spaces for people to enjoy and inhabit. It is extremely rewarding to hear feedback from clients about how much they enjoy their gardens. On a larger scale, each time we design a landscape we are thinking about habitat, ecology and how this garden will become an ecosystem. An ‘island’ within the densely populated inner-city, and how this will have a positive impact on the future. Gardens create both habitat and refuge for a variety of species and insects. Flowers and other plants provide opportunity for pollinators and canopy coverage can aid in curbing urban heat island effect. Not to mention the amount of plants which will germinate from the original plants and create new ecologies within the urban environment.
If you are thinking about implementing a garden and a lovely space for yourself to enjoy, remember you are investing in the future and the environment through the creation of habitat! Please contact us if you would like to begin the journey!
This number is generated from current built projects [private gardens, public landscapes + installations, playspace upgrades, and container gardens].
